Inhalte
• Synthesis and characterization of biomaterials or components therof • Functional Biomolecules • Bioassays • 3D printing of biomaterials
Lernziele
The Biomaterials module is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, design, and applications of materials used in biomedical settings. By the end of the module, students will have acquired both theoretical and practical knowledge essential for the development, characterization, and evaluation of biomaterials. Specifically, students will be able to: • Understand the fundamental principles of biomaterials • Comprehend the key concepts of biocompatibility, biodegradability, and biofunctionality • Explore the interactions between biomaterials and biological systems • Synthesize biomaterials • Analyze the chemical and physical interactions between biomaterials and biological matter • Design and tailor biomaterials • Assess the degradation of materials • Utilize 3D-bioprinting
Prüfungsleistung
• Reports on the laboratory work of approx. 10 to 20 pages (60%) • Presentation (15 min) and discussion (10 min) of the results (40%)
Literatur (1)
- Materials will be provided (script for practical course, publications and other materials) at the start of the module and subsequently during the semester.
