Selected Chapters in Technical Combustion

Ausgewählte Kapitel der Technischen Verbrennung

6 CPSummerENBeing phased out

Prerequisites

Recommended, as written

• Module 44407 Technical Combustion • Strongly recommended: Fundamental knowledge in mathematics and physics, thermodynamics, and heat and mass transfer.

Contents

• Thermodynamics and Chemical kinetics of Combustion Processes • Reaction kinetics of homogeneous gas phase reactions • Balance equations for laminar and turbulent flows • Ignition and extinction processes in homogeneous systems • Laminar and turbulent premixed and diffusion flames • Pollutant formation

Learning outcomes

After participating in the module, students will have advanced knowledge in the chemistry and physics of combustion processes including engine simulations and optimizations. Building on the content taught, they are able to independently investigate and present selected advanced topics from research.

Assessment

• Presentation (~15 min.) and subsequent discussion (~15 min.) (70%) • Contribution to the seminar (15%) • Active Participation in practical day (15%)
