Power Generation from Bio Fuels

Energieerzeugung durch Biotreibstoff

6 CPSummerENno longer offered

Contents

Properties, emissions and greenhouse gas reduction potential of biofuels, theory of energy conversion of the various conversion processes, thermal (pyrolysis / gasification) and biological (fermentation) processing into gaseous fuels, combustion technologies for solid biomass (wood, straw), vegetable oil used in internal combustion engines (CHP) system concepts , design and calculation methods, practical knowledge through demonstration of power generation from bio fuels.

Learning outcomes

The students acquire knowledge of basics of power generation from bio fuels and operation of plants for thermal use of biomass. Thus, students are able to perform location-specific studies and have the posibility to visit the facilities designed to generate energy from bio fuels.

Assessment

• Written examination, 90 minutes OR • Oral examination, 45 minutes In the first lecture it will be announced, if the examination will be offered in written or oral form.
