Monitoring, Data Acquisition and Documentation
4 CPWinterENno longer offered
Contents
Sustainable water resources management demands for monitoring by data acquisition in the field and laboratory as well as simulation by computer models. Concepts of monitoring and data acquisition will be presented and mathematical concepts (tensor analysis, set theory) for handling mass data from field measurement and numerical simulation introduced. Implementation into Hydro-Informatics Systems by object-oriented approaches and Web technology to support information analysis, visualization, documentation and archiving will be shown. Standards of Web Documents such as XML (DocBook, MathML, SVG), Document Type Definitions (DTD), XML Schema, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Document Object Model (DOM), XPath, XSLT, RDF and others are introduced.
Learning outcomes
Capacities for Web-computing; Standards for Web Documents, Introduction to Web-based Hydroinformatics Systems; Understanding of sampling and monitoring design, modelling data by tensor classes; computer supported reporting; application to real world systems (online monitoring).
Assessment
exercises, written and oral examinations
