Knowlegde of the content of module • 13030: Pattern Formation and Nonlinear Dynamics I
Contents
Convection instability, reaction-diffusion equations, description of spatio-temporal pattern formation, method of reduced equations, Swift-Hohenberg equation, dynamics of liquid films.
Learning outcomes
After successfully completing the module, students are familiar with advanced aspects of pattern formation within theoretical and phenomenological aspects. Intuition, classification and integration of physical insight was provided along the subject of the module. In addition, social competences as teamwork and persistence, but also individual competences as accuracy, curiosity, and working on one's own initiative have been supported.
Assessment
Prerequisite: • Successful completion of exercise assignments (75% must be reached)Final module examination: • Oral examination, 30-45 min.
